01.01.08: Again a great year in fighting spam. I got only 6 spam-mails from more than 2.7 million. The last months brought more spam then the complete year 2006 each!
14.10.07: 95% of mail is spam...
09.10.07: I recalculate statistics for this year because spam to spamtrap-addresses was counted as ham.
26.01.07: The new patch is available. After more than 13 month I found the time to publish a new version of my filter. A lot of new functions and configuration files, some documentation and a better error handling.
01.01.07: A great year in fighting spam. I got only 8 spam-mails from more than 450000 and there were no false positives caused by my filter. But spammers don't sleep. So there is still a lot of work to do...
21.09.06: The last days some spammers helped me to test my filter. :) There were some DDoS attacks against it. But because the filter does not scan content, there was not much load.
27.08.06: New error handling works good. Now I have to do a lot of documentation and more tests. And I recalculate my statistics more precise because some mails are counted twice ore more during last tests.
25.08.06: Happy Birthday Linux :)
17.08.06: I'm rewriting error handling of my spam filter. And I make tests with accept and mark spam. Current test produces a lot of greylisted mails as you can see in the statistic.
21.01.06: Server was again off for 35 hours because of damaged capacitors and non rotating fan. There are two reboots two days before, so I wait for this failure.
I've changed most capacitors (also the good ones), the fan and the hard disk. The old disk was still working, but SMART reports: power-on-seconds - failing now! The new disk is bigger and faster :) And I installed a second one for easier backup.
Beside this I installed a newer kernel and lm_sensors to have a closer look on the systems health.
23.11.05: New Sober variant becomes the years largest email worm outbreak

Viruses? What viruses? Viruses are like Spam - I don't get viruses!
08.08.05: After some critics from the qmail-newsgroup I started to have a closer look on false positives. Until this, I just watched my logfiles. Because I have a very small user-group, I can rate conspicuous mails. Now I add the possibility to redirect spam instead of reject it. I monitore all this mails to find false positives. Actually this test runs 19 days and I found some false positives (13) which were rejected because of errors in the senders configuration. E. g. sending newsletters as bounces or with a not existing address. I sent a report to the corresponding admins. I found 2 mails (from the same sender) which were rejected because of my own mistake. There was a missing entry in nonrelay. I think, this is a good result, but it could be better. And I want to make this redirection user-configurable.
10.06.05: Page was offline for 8 days - I should test, what I write... ;)

Fun
In the sense of the second law of thermodynamics I declare this room as tidy.
Intranet? Which Intranet? If I write 'Ferrari' on a tricycle, this is also no sports car!
I never doubt that emacs is a great operating system. But to compete with Linux or Windows, it needs a reasonable editor. (Kai Fett)
There's nothing older than yesterday's newspaper...
... except yesterday's virus scanner!!

The American declaration of independence contains 300 words.
The regulation of the European community for the import of caramel-drops has accurately 25911 words.

Unfortunately no military strategist had expected the German Telekom...
The packaging said "Windows 95 or better", so I installed Linux.
Real programmers don't document. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.
There are THREE kinds of people in the world... Those that can count and those that can't.
I think there is a world market for maybe five computers (Thomas Watson, IBM-Chef, 1943)
..., computers in the future may have only 1,000 vaccuum tubes and perhaps weigh 1 1/2 tons. ("Popular Mechanics" 1949)
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. (Albert Einstein)
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. (Thomas Edison)

Some things, where people are looking for...
I see people looking for very different things on my site. Some are funny. And sometimes I know the answer and want to help.
They looking for "Why People Have Skins Of Diff. Colors". Well, all this words you can found here - but not the answer, sorry.
DOS-batch programming: Look at Rob van der Woude's Scripting Pages. Or look for "command.com syntax reference" at Google.
LILO-images for RedHat and SuSE: RedHat uses a pcx-image with 320*200 pixels and 256 colors. And SuSE? Sorry, I dont know.
I still see people, looking for my lilo-patches. I had removed them, because they are written '97 to 2000 and there are better solutions available today. But if you want them, you got them on my download-page.
For all other questions, the answer is 42 :) (Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis)
